A miniature horse is hoping to get some action with one of the regular sized horses. Do you suppose if he could get through the fence, he'd be 'up' to the challenge? One can only imagine the 'horsie' conversation going on here!
Mating is a high stakes proposition and there's no telling what females want and males will do. NATURE's new miniseries, "What Females Want and Males Will Do," is about the evolution of sexual strategies and what makes certain species winners and losers in the animal mating game. Courtship drives evolution by controlling whose genes are passed on to the next generation, and intense competition gives rise to a wide array of dazzling displays and impressive ornamentation. In Part Two, "What Males Will Do," you'll see there is nothing a male will not do for the right to mate with a female -- dance, sing, fight, change body colors, illuminate, even agree to be eaten alive. There is often a surplus of males, and they are instinctively driven to compete in order to pass their genes to the next generation. But it takes two to tango. Now, scientists are learning to what extremes males will go in order to find that dance partner. Part of the 26th season of the Peabody and Emmy award-winning series produced by Thirteen/WNET New York for PBS, "What Females Want and Males Will Do" premieres over two Sundays, April 6 and 13, at 8 p.m. (check local listings). Major support provided by Canon U.S.A. Inc., Toyota, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. For more information, visit http://www.pbs.org/nature

I´d like to dedicate this clip to Rene'! This clip is the "making of" our Puppies, hope I was able to catch a little bit of the quiet and peaceful mood! You can see 2 Golden Retrievers, Balu and Wendy, mating in this clip. The clip starts at the point where the male "enters" the female and then shows the "hanging" that is part of the dog-mating act. Just look into the faces of our dogs and you can see how much they both enjoy it;-) At the end of the clip Strommer, our "dog-cat" enters the scene to cuddle up to Balu, enjoy! Oh, the music is: John Boswell - Skye Boat Song.

Rare View of Wild Deer Mating. Whitetail deer are almost never seen mating, and filmed even more rarely. Here a doe mates with one or two bucks. These appear to be small "button," or young bucks. She rejects them, swinging head at them. **Some of the world's largest bucks live in Ohio. Some of its world champion bucks have Boone and Crockett scores of over 300 points. Ohio's Beatty Buck may be the (or among the) largest ever taken by a hunter. The male white-tailed deer, or buck (Odocoileus virginianus - normally called the whitetail), can weigh up to around 400 pounds and the female up to 175 pounds. Males of one year or older have antlers. Young bucks with very small antlers are called button bucks. When the antlers begin to grow in the late spring, they are covered with a very vascular tissue known as velvet or moss. This drops off later. The Boone & Crockett scoring system is used to rate antlers or racks. Bucks shed their antlers at the end of breeding season (rut). Some female deer also have antlers. The piebald or white deer, a deer having more white than normal but not an albino, is very rare Deer have an amazing assortment of communicative signs. Approximately 100 different vocalizations have been recorded, such as tending grunts, dominant grunts, bleats, and many others. They make extensive use of sign language. The whitetail is found throughout most of the U.S., southern Canada, Central America, and in the northern portions of South America. However, in the western U.S., the mule or Black-tailed deer is more common. It is a generalist, which can adapt to a wide variety of habitats, including woodland, open savanna, and even sage areas.
